The Publication Process

Each year, participants of The Writing Workshop publish and publicly launch Sister Writes, the program’s literary magazine. In this multi-step process, participants work in groups to peer workshop each others’ stories, receive feedback and mentorship from professional writers and editors, and work collectively towards publishing and launching the magazine. Cover art is made by a Sister Writes participant. The magazine is printed by Coach House Press in Toronto.

From 2010-2012, Sister Writes went by Roots to Branches. Then, in 2013, the magazine was renamed simply Sister WritesSister Writes features the same great content but now has as a fresh new design that reflects the program’s new look.
